Alexis Sanchez

Manchester City have had talks with Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez and are confident of landing the 28-year-old.

According to reports, The Sky Blues are more likely to reunite Sanchez with Pep Guardiola, despite Arsenal preferring that he joined Bayern Munich should he leave the Gunners.

Goal’s Sam Lee reported City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain traveled to London for the talks. Report claimed Sanchez is eager to reunite with former Barcelona coach Guardiola, and City will look to capitalise by matching any bid from Bayern and offering higher wages.

Meanwhile, Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak insists reports that Sergio Aguero could be sold are ridiculous because the Argentine striker remains a key player for the Premier League club.

Aguero lost his place in Pep Guardiola’s starting line-up following the arrival of Brazilian starlet Gabriel Jesus in January. The 28-year-old, who has scored 122 league goals in 181 appearances since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2011, returned to the team following an injury to Jesus and finished the season as City’s leading scorer.

That has not stopped rumours about his future, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid all linked with the star, but Khaldoon is adamant Aguero is too important to lose.

And also, Argentinian centre-back Mateo Musacchio has signed a contract with AC Milan through until 2021, the Serie A club announced Tuesday.

The 26-year-old, capped six times by Argentina, arrives in Italy from Spain’s Villareal, where he has played since the 2009-10 season, starting 271 games for La Liga side.
